Sunday was the Greater Manchester Marathon 2015. As many of you already know, the training plan went to pot during the last couple of months and we were not feeling at all confident before the event. When Sarah and I left home this morning to cycle to the start of the Stockport Community Cycling Club Off to See the Wizard ride there was a point when we both doubted whether our legs had the strength to complete it. As the heatwave across the UK continues, Sunday briefly brought  us a little light relief with overcast conditions. Great for cycling, as shown by the large turnout for Stockport Community Cycling Club‘s latest 30 mile ride. ‘Off to see the Wizard’ of course referred to cycling to Alderley Edge, with it’s famous links with wizardry and Alan Garner’s The Weirdstone of Brisingamen. The weather forecast had been for rain all day and strong winds – almost enough to put you off a day of cycling! We were due out on an SCCC ride from Timperley out to Plumley and back.
