Acton Bridge

Acton Bridge

Finally we were witnessing a sustained period of sunshine in the UK in early June, and Sunday morning presented us with another fantastic sunny day for a cycle ride out in to the Cheshire lanes. This was the latest in the series of Stockport Community Cycling Club‘s eXtra Rides. Leaving from Gatley Rail station we worked our way through Wythenshawe, round Manchester Airport, the large houses of Hale Barns and towards Ashley.    We cycled through Tatton Park.   Then…

A little group of us met up and cycled from Stockport through Bredbury, Woodley,  Hyde and on to Stalybridge.  The ride to the official starting point was 10.5 miles and about 550 feet of climbing. The ride was mainly off road (using tracks and following…

Charlesworth to Hayfield, Hills and Snow

Charlesworth to Hayfield, Hills and Snow

The week of writing an Open University essay is an intense one for me. I therefore usually shut down my social calendar and minimise all distractions. Thankfully I had been cycling on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but all day studying on a Bank Holiday Monday. I knew I had to sacrifice the full day unofficial Stockport Community Cycling Club unofficial ride. Since Andy S wasn’t free all day either emailing him with an alternative temptation of ‘a few miles,…
