Lochs and Glens North Itinerary

Lochs and Glens North Itinerary

Our Lochs and Glens North Itinerary outlines our major summer tour for 2019. It is, as usual, our annual group cycle tour with some of our friends from Stockport Community Cycling Club. This year the team will be Andy, Sarah, Andy S, Andy S, Neil, and Des. Sustrans says ‘This stunningly beautiful part of National Route 7, between Inverness and Glasgow, passes through two fantastic National Parks.’ This will be our tenth summer tour and yet again it promises to…

JOGLE Day 3 – Tain to Aviemore

JOGLE Day 3 – Tain to Aviemore

JOGLE Day 3 thankfully began without any mishaps. The Morangie Hotel is a place which evokes former glory days but retains a certain charm. E2E Day 21 – Inverness to Helmsdale

E2E Day 21 – Inverness to Helmsdale

E2E Day 21. Following a week of picture postcard scenery, today was back to reality. This was the longest day of our journey covering 73 miles. We set off over the Moray Firth. Then followed National Cycle Network paths through Bridgend to Tain where we had lunch.    The afternoon proved a fairly relentless relentless slog straight up the busy A9. The scenery was quite nice but the lorries and headwind meant we couldn’treally enjoy it too much. We did manage…

E2E Day 20 – Loch Ness to Inverness

E2E Day 20 – Loch Ness to Inverness

E2E Day 20. Today an intrepid band of 8 set out on a scenic route to Inverness. We went back to Fort Augustus (about 9 miles) then round the other side of Loch Ness. This took us up a steep hill that seemed to go on forever! We stopped by Loch Tarff for a bit of a rest. There was then so more climbing but there were some great views from the summit. Lunch was at the Waterfall Cafe by…
