Anglo-Scottish Border Day 5 – Beal to Berwick-upon-Tweed

We had finished Anglo-Scottish Border Day 4 at Beal. Anglo-Scottish Day 5 would be our final day of cycling. Our aim was to pop over to Holy Island before cycling up the Northumberland coast and finishing at Berwick-upon-Tweed. We left Lindisfarne Inn at Beal on a fine cloudy morning. Anglo-Scottish Border Day 4 – Kelso to Beal

Anglo-Scottish Border Day 4 – Kelso to Beal

Having arrived in Kelso at the end of Anglo-Scottish Border Day 3, for Anglo-Scottish Border Day we would cycle over to Beal in Northumberland. A few miles in to the ride, where Ettrick Water meets the River Tweed, we crossed…

Anglo-Scottish Border Day 2 – Newcastleton to Selkirk

Having arrived in Newcastleton at the end of Anglo-Scottish Border Day 1, Anglo-Scottish Border Day 2 would take us on to Selkirk via Hawick. First things first, however … breakfast. We found an excellent café just up the road from the bunkhouse called Copshaw Kitchen. Fuelled up, we set off along the B6537 out of Newcastleton as it followed the winding Liddel Water, and then soon the B6399, as it followed the path of Hermitage Water. Cycling up the B6399,…

Anglo-Scottish Border Day 1 – Carlisle to Gretna to Newcastleton

Anglo-Scottish Border Day 1 – Carlisle to Gretna to Newcastleton

Finally, it had arrived our annual summer tour! The Anglo-Scottish Border route is a coast-to-coast cycle route starting from Carlisle, then cycling to Gretna, before following the border to Berwick-upon-Tweed. For Anglo-Scottish Border Day 1 we would just be making our way to Newcastleton. Last year, we experienced rail travel misery in reaching the start point of the tour. Thankfully, this year it was much more pleasant. We had agreed to cycle in two groups to reach our first destination,…
