Stockport Circular Ride
Andy had realised that Stockport Community Cycling Club didn’t actually do a ride around Stockport itself and he decided that should change. The answer was the Stockport Circular Ride that we did on Saturday! We met near Woodsmoor Station.
The route took us along the Fred Perry Way and then into Bramhall Park.
Through Cheadle Hulme, then Bruntwood Park. Just after leaving Bruntwood Park, one of the group had a puncture, so there were some emergency repairs before we continued.
The route then took us out towards Cheadle Heath and over the River Mersey.
We followed the river up to the Pyramid and then crossed over the motorway before joining up with the TPT (Trans-Pennine Trail).
Crossing the A6 and then dropping down to Tesco’s at Portwood where we stopped for coffee.
I don’t think the bike park is normally so full! After coffee we went through Stockport centre then over St Mary’s Way (using a little bridge) and on through Woodbank Park.
From there we wound our way back through Hazel Grove and returned to Woodsmoor Station.
The Stockport Circular ride route was 17 miles long and made a very interesting circuit. Passing through some very green places but also some built up areas as well.
