Scottish C2C Day 1 – Annan to Moffat

Scottish C2C Day 1 – Annan to Moffat

The Scottish C2C Day 1 is made up of two parts – our ride from the Rowanbank Guesthouse to the start of the route, followed by the route from the start to Moffat. You can see our trip to Annan here.

We left the Rowanbank Guesthouse and cycled to one of the two official starting points to the Scottish C2C route, taking a detour via the shops for which some things that had been forgotten.  It was only a couple of miles to one of the start points.

The ‘local’

The ride has two starting point and we selected what we thought would be the quieter one. It certainly was quite but had great views out over the water.

We then set off for the official route to Moffat, where we would be staying for the evening. We retraced our route back into Annan

Annan

We passed out over the river Annan toward Howes.

Our route was basically running parallel to the A74(M), passing through Millhousebridge and on to Johnstonebridge.

At Johnstonebridge we took a slight detour to the A74(M) services to stop for lunch.

View from the service cafe

From the services we then picked up the route and continued to Moffat.

We arrived at Moffat and the Star Hotel, where we were going to stay for the night. The hotel is in the Guinness Booked of Records for being the narrowest hotel in the world.

Having checked into our room, we had a little wander around Moffat.

The boys went to the bar for the ‘perfect’ pint and I went to the room for a little snooze. Later we had a lovely evening meal at the hotel.
