SCCC Salt Line Ride
Saturday was the SCCC Salt Line Ride. We met in the little car park near Hassall Green on a dry but rather cool morning.
We set off along the road towards Hassall Green, crossing over the canal and following the road to Malkin’s Bank.
At Malkin’s Bank we crossed over the canal again then followed a track along the canal to the Wheelock Rail Trail.
We then followed the Wheelock Rail Trail for a while.
At the end we turn back on to the road making our way towards Moston Green on our way to Sandbach.
We stopped for a break at the Holly Bush Inn in Winterley.
Having been well refreshed, it was time to head off again. However whilst we were in the pub the heavens opened and it poured with rain! It was still raining as we set off but at least it had eased off. We headed through Wheelock Heath to Lawton Heath End.
We then turned on to the Salt Line to make our way back to where we had started.
It had been a very pleasant ride of 18.7 miles. You can see our route below:
Some of our friends had cycled to the start of the ride, although we had been given a lift there. However we did then cycle home. By the time we got home, we had cycled 47 miles.
