SCCC Salt Line Ride
Saturday was the Stockport Community Cycling Club Salt Line ride, which officially started at Hassall Green. There were a small group of us who decided that it would be an excellent idea to ride from our home (in and around Stockport) to the start! There were various meeting up places along the way but we joined the group (of three others) at Wilmslow. By the time we got to the starting place Andy and I had cycle 26.5 miles to get there.
As we set off we crossed over the canal next to a lock gate. It just so happened that there was a boat leaving the lock as I went over the bridge.
We hadn’t got very far, when we had to stop and wait for a couple of other people who had managed to get lost whilst driving to the start.
Jim lead us down the Wheelock Rail Trail for a while before joining the roads and heading to Winterley for a coffee stop.
We stopped for lunch at the Foresters Arms in Winterley.
After lunch we went off through Hassall Green and joined up with the Salt Line to take up back to the car park where we started the ride from.
The ride itself was 18.6 mile long and we all enjoyed it. It was not a ride that I had done before but was certainly one that I shall enjoy doing again. Having completed the ride, it was time to cycle back home again.
On the way home we passed Jodrell bank before heading back to Wilmslow where we left the other three as they were going a different route from there.
On the way home we cycled 27.5 miles (as we took a slightly different way). In total we had cycled about 73 miles and had enjoyed every minute of it!
