SCCC Big Stockport Ride in Reverse
Saturday was the SCCC Big Stockport Ride in reverse. We met up in Green Lane, Stockport – next to a big puddle! The ride was one the was originally organised by Life Leisure and was called the Big Stockport Ride only we were going to do it in reverse.
We set off up Green Lane
Then across A6 and onto the cycle path opposite.
We cycled past Stockport market and up Churchgate
Then taking the foot bridge over St Mary’s Way.
Our route then took us into Woodbank Park.
Through Offerton and then on and into Torkington Park.
We then made our way onto the Middlewood Way for a while.
Our coffee stop was taken at the Wyvale Garden Centre in Marple.
After our refreshments we went past the Stockport Hydro scheme.
After the hydro scheme we continued down Mill Lane and essentially following a similar route to the Goyt River.
We then made our way up to Reddish Vale.
Unfortunately for Andy, there was a mechanical disaster. He had caught a stick in his back wheel and it broke the deraillier and broght a rather abrupt end to his cycle ride. He had to leave us at this point and take his bike to the bike shop (Woodsons in Edgely) for a little rebuilding! It is all better now though.
The rest of us finished the ride, making our way back to the starting point at Green Lane. It has been a very enjoyable ride.

The club ride was just under 22 miles. As I had cycled to the start and back, in total I had covered about 27 miles
