SCCC Annual Club Lunch 2019
The SCCC Annual Club Lunch 2019 provided the opportunity for Stockport Community Cycling Club to reflect on last years events and reward its
members for their efforts (you can previous years annual lunches here: 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013).
As in previous years, the event was held at Hyde Bank Farm in Romiley. While, the venue no longer usually holds events other than weddings, as loyal visitors for many years, they continue to welcome us. We’re always sure of an excellent welcome at this great place.
The lunch always begins with Jim’s little quiz.
The prize for the winning team is a magical pack of mini Mars bars!
This is then followed by the lunch itself.
Following the food, we move on to the awards.
Club Mileage Medals
These started with medals for members who have cycled 250 miles (bronze), 500 miles (silver) or 1000 miles (gold) with the club.
Since we didn’t have anyone present collecting the 2500 club miles we moved on to the 5000 miles completed medal. This year Lyn and Gill passed this mileage total with the club.
The last mileage award went to Andy as he became the second club member to reach 10,000 miles cycled with the club.
The trophies
We began with the Most Unfortunate Rider of the Year. This year it was presented to Lyn for falling into the Rochdale Canal.
The Newcomer of the Year award was presented to Tina.
Next, the Most Improved Rider of the Year. This year this trophy was awarded to Caroline.
Our CERA Cycloan Unsung Hero of the Year Award is presented to members (who may not be obvious candidates for the Clubperson of the Year Award) for unselfish deeds in helping the club and its members. This year it was awarded to Barbara, for providing unstinting support towards both Jim and the club. An award well deserved!
Finally, the main trophy, Clubperson of the Year was presented to Graham. Well done old man!
We like to present a gift to Jim and Barbara, as a thank you for the time and effort they put in towards the running of the club. This year, we presented them with gift tokens which can be enjoyed at Stockport Plaza.
Finally, there was the (now) annual ‘Review of the Year’ video, which is put together by Andy S, to watch.
This is a compilation of moments taken from the SCCC cycle rides, especially the embarrassing ones!
(The video will appear here when it has been uploaded to the internet)
The Club Lunch 2019 had again been another great annual awards ceremony.
Well done to everyone who was presented with a medal or award, they were thoroughly deserved. Who knows, next year, maybe it will be you who is going up to collect one of our medals or awards!
