SCCC Annual Club Lunch 2014
Saturday 18th January brought a good turn out of club members at Hyde Bank Farm Restaurant & Tearoom in Romiley for the Stockport Community Cycling Club Annual Club Lunch 2014. This annual event (click here to read about last years event) is where the various ride medals and club awards earned by the club members in the previous year are given out.
As usual the event began with food! Hot pot, cheese and onion pie, sticky toffee pudding and apple pie were on the menu. None of which Sarah can eat. Thankfully the catering staff kindly provided a gluten-free option too.
Below are photos of all the club members at the lunch.
Following lunch, first up was some entertainment provided by Bruce S and David C …and then all those present as Bruce cajoled us all into the seemingly annual sing-song.
Tracey S and I then gave a couple of short speeches and presented Barbara and Jim with flowers and a gift which this year is a day cruise and lunch on the White Nancy.
Following this it was time for the awards.
Bronze, silver and gold medals were given to those who had reached the point of having cycled over 250, 500 and 1000 miles respectively.
A mug was given to a number of riders who had reached the 2500 mile point. I was particularly proud that Sarah was one of those.
And a large medal was given to those who have cycled over 5000 miles with the club. Julia F and Andy S were recipients of these this year.
The award for the newcomer who had cycled the most miles in the last calender year went to John R.
The award for the most unfortunate rider of the year went to myself following my Crash and burn exploits at Cuerden Valley last February.
The newcomer of the year award was given to Cara A who joined us towards the end of the year and has been on the majority of our rides since.
And last, but certainly not least, the Club Rider of the Year was awarded to Bruce for everything he has contributed to the club over the last year.
This was another extremely successful SCCC annual club lunch and all the medals and trophies earned by the club members were very well deserved. Well done to everyone!
