SCCC Alderley Edge Ride
The SCCC Alderley Edge ride was the first cycling club ride I had been on since the Covid-19 lockdown first began. This was actually the third ride Stockport Community Cycling Club (SCCC) had put on since the lockdown restrictions had been eased slightly. It was my privilege to the back leader for the day’s ride.
We met in the laybe outside the Deanwater Hotel. The group consisted of a mix of new rider with the club and some regular faces. It was lovely to be able to catch up with people.
Leaving the Deanwater, we set off up the hill towards the roundabout.
At the roundabout we turned left and headed off towards Mottram St Andrew (Newton), which took us past the garden centre
We then turned right into Mill Lane.
After a short break, we headed through Alderley Edge.
From Alderley Edge, we headed towards Chorley, along Chelford Road.
As we cycled past Lindow, it looked like they were getting ready for a cricket match.
From Wilmslow, after a sort break, we headed towards Handforth.
We turned off and followed the cycle path than runs alongside the Airport Bypass.
At Stanley Green we crossed over the A34 before continuing along the shared path that follows along the the bypass towards Bramhall.
As we reached the Hall Moss Lane, a few of the group decided to go straight home rather than returning to the starting point – it had suddenly turned very cold! The remaining group continued on to Blossoms Lane.
We then turned right onto Wilmslow Road and returned back to the Deanwater Hotel.
We had cycled just over 15 miles. Everyone seemed to enjoy the ride. It had been good to be out on an SCCC ride again!
