Reivers Route Itinerary
This Reivers Route Itinerary outlines an early summer English Coast-to-Coast cycling tour Sarah and I, plan to undertake along with our good friend Andy S.
The Reivers Route is a 173-mile coast-to-coast cycle route starting at Tynemouth and finishing Whitehaven via Northumberland and Kielder Forest. It is described by Sustrans as an ‘exciting way to discover the best of northern England’s scenery in the historic border territory of England and Scotland which, especially during its peak in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, has been characterised by robbery, cattle rustling, kidnap and murder.’ The route also takes in Carlisle and the Lake District and for many cyclists, it is the return route for the Sea to Sea (C2C) We, however, will be cycling in just the one direction.
