Prestbury – Including Mottram St Andrew and Bollington
It was, perhaps surprising for this time of year, glorious weather for a Good Friday. The UK (and indeed the rest of the world) are currently struggling with the coronavirus pandemic. However, thankfully we are currently allowed one session of exercise each day. There may not be any Stockport Community Cycling Club rides at the moment, however, Sarah and I were still determined to make the most of the fabulous weather and get out on our bikes. Prestbury would be the destination.
We set off late afternoon after deciding there would be fewer people around as the day wore on.
We set off by weaving our way through Bramhall.
From there we turned into Blossoms Lane heading towards Woodford.
Then, after joining Wilmslow Road we made our way up the hill near The Deanwater Hotel.
We then turned towards Mottram St Andrew.
A little further on we climbed up Wilmslow Old Road.
Towards the top of Wilmslow Old Road, we turned into Moss Lane, and then Oak Road. We continued climbing.
At the end of Oak Road, we turned towards Prestbury and joined regional route 70, also known as the Cheshire Cycleway.
We cycled through the centre of the village.
After cycling up the hill out of Prestbury, we reached Bollington.
After crossing the Silk Road and leaving Regional Route 70, we joined Bollington Road.
Further up the road, we turned into Sugar Lane and cycled up another hill.
At the end of Sugar Lane, we reached the edge of Adlington. We then dropped down Brookledge Lane.
Before turning into Roundy Lane.
Now, we cycled through Higher Poynton. This was a section route we had also cycled in the opposite direction recently when heading for Pott Shrigley.
Then down Towers Road.
Before finally reaching Stockport again.
Today we cycled 23 miles. This had been another fantastic opportunity to get out on the bike, get out of town, and just enjoy the scenery around us.
