Plumley 2015 – A Peach of a Cycle Ride
Finally it seems the sun is occasionally popping it’s head around the clouds, and 24 riders arrived at Timperley Sports Club on a pleasant Sunday morning for Stockport Community Cycling Club‘s Plumley 2015 ride.
For some of us this would be our last longer ride before our upcoming John o’Groats to Land’s End cycle tour …time to check that we are ready.
Heading out of Timperley and through Altrincham the ride passed through Hale.
And soon we were making our way through Ashley.
And then Tatton Park and towards Knutsford.
After coming out of Knutsford we turned down Sudlow Lane.
We then turned on to Plumley Lane and then Free Green Lane.
Along this lane is Grasslands Nursery which has an eatery called Snowdrop Cafe.
This was a quick return visit since we had visited the cafe only on the Lower Peover club ride last month. As usual the food was basic fare but ideal for cyclists. This was clear as two or three other cycling groups also passed through whilst we were there.
Following lunch Andy led us along the edge of Goostrey and towards the Peover’s.
We then turned towards Marthall.
From Marthall the route took us towards Mobberley.
For the final section of the ride we weaved our way around the edges of Mobberley and back towards Ashley.
Finally we re-entered Altrincham and then back to Timperley.
We had completed 30 miles on our Plumley 2015 ride. With an extra 20 total miles cycled to the start and then back home this had proved to be an excellent 50 mile ride around the Cheshire Lanes. Yes, this was a peach of a cycle ride. And I think we are now ready for our JOGLE!
