Pennine Cycleway Day 2 – Wooler to Bellingham
Having stayed at Wooler overnight, Pennine Cycleway – Day 2 would see us cycling to Bellingham.
Before we set off though there had to be some adjustments had to be made to the gears on my bike. Once I was sorted though off we set. The first five miles were mainly off road. It was very scenic but it did mean we made slow progress.
There were quite a number of fords but thankfully there was a small footbridge at the side that we could use.
A one of the fords, a few of the group decided to go through rather than round and both Ian and Tracey ended up a little damp!
Thankfully they were both OK, just wet!
Once we got back onto roads, we made much faster progress.
There were other off road sections.
Our route took us through the Northumberland National Park.
We stopped in Alwinton for a latish lunch at a nice pub, called the Rose and Thistle.
We then set off on our final leg of the day into Bellingham.
We had cycled 46 miles and climbed about 3700 feet.
