Off to High Legh Station
Following our exploits around Porthmadog it was back to our regular club rides this weekend. This meant joining Stockport Community Cycling Club as we cycled to High Legh Station.
Sarah was leading this ride and I was the back leader. We actually cycled the ride twice in two days since we reccied the ride on the Saturday before the real thing on the Sunday. The photos included in this blog posting are a combination of both days. As you will see the Saturday ride was sunny but cold, whilst the Sunday ride was warmer but wet (at least for the earlier part of the day) and sadly why there are less photos than usual of everyone.
We all met up at Gatley Rail Station. On the Saturday there were four of us. On the Sunday, considering the wet weather there was a healthy turnout of 25 club members.
The ride began by weaving its way through Wythenshawe via the hospital and then Altrincham.
We cycled through Dunham Massey.
Then it was on through Little Bollington followed by High Legh and lunch at High Legh Garden Centre.
High Legh Garden Centre has a miniature railway and on the Saturday recce part of the NNRL (Northenden Nuisance Railway Line) management team couldn’t be held back from testing potential new rolling stock.
Thankfully on the Sunday ride the club members showed a little more restraint, though we were interested in another bicycle on sale.
Back to the ride. After lunch we set off back to Stockport via Hoo Green and Bucklow Hill.
We cycled through Rostherne and Ashley.
Finally we passed through Mobberley, Wilmslow, Styal and Heald Green.
All-in-all this was a well received ride following an unothodox (for the club) route. The weather wasn’t too bad and it was good to get out on our bikes again. In total, including the ride to the start of each ride, we cycled approximately 42 miles each day.
