Media City Ride
The Stockport Community Cycling Club Media City ride was on Sunday. We met up near the Robin Hood pub in Stretford. From there we headed off to the to the Bridgewater Canal.
Where the canal goes under Chester Road, the towpath was closed due to works on the bridge. There was a detour which involved us going up to the main road and crossing over Chester Road before being able to rejoin the canal towpath. Our route then took us into Trafford Park and round to Manchester United’s Stadium, where we walked through the Munich Tunnel and then stopped to make use of the toilets.
Then we headed down to Salford Quays and did a circuit around Media City there.
We stopped beside some of the artwork along the way to have a group photograph taken.
Having crossed over water we went through the gardens near the BBC before continuing around The Quays, passing the various water sports that were happening there.
Arriving back in Media City we stopped at the Dock Bar, near the BBC for coffee and cake, or at least some of them had cake – they didn’t have a gluten free one.
We went into the BBC building to make use of the toilets and came across the daleks and the TARDIS from Doctor Who that were there in the foyer.
From Media City we headed out down Broadway then over the Centenary Bridge, though Trafford Park and then made our way back to the Robin Hood pub in Stretford. The ride was very interesting and enjoyable – thanks to Gill for planning it and leading us. The ride was about 12 miles long.
As I had cycled to and from the start point, I had cycled about 35 miles by the time I got back home again. In case you had noticed that there were no pictures of Andy, he wasn’t on the ride as he was attending another event.
