Media City 2015
Media City is always a popular ride in the Stockport Community Cycling Club calendar. Perhaps surprisingly it is a new club ride for me, though Sarah wrote a blog post of a previous Media City ride a couple of years ago.
The ride starts at The Robin Hood pub in Stretford and there was a healthy turnout of club members.
Gill was leading this ride and began by taking us for a short cycle along Chester Road.
Before briefly picking up the Trans Pennine Trail (perhaps a preview for Sarah and I’s TPT tour beginning tomorrow!)
We then joined the Bridgewater Canal.
We followed this for awhile before coming off and making our way to Old Trafford.
It pained me to take these photo’s, but it was a necessary task in order to provide an accurate representation of the route!
Thankfully we didn’t linger around Old Trafford for long and were soon on our way cycling along the Manchester Ship Canal.
Soon we crossed over the canal in to MediaCityUK itself.
Passing through the BBC garden.
And then on for a tour of Salford Quays and its basins.
We cycled past the Imperial War Museum.
Finally we made our way back to MediaCityUK and to our coffee break at Love Conquers All.
This was a quirky little place which everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy.
The final section of the ride was less exciting as we made our way back through Trafford Park
Arriving back, we had cycled almost 12 miles. It had proved an interesting route. With Sarah and I had cycling to the start and back again we eventually completed 35 miles.
