Marton Revisited
It was a fine sunny Sunday morning for this Marton Revisited cycle ride, essentially a repeat of our cycle ride out to Gawsworth and Marton put together by Neil last summer.
We met at Blossoms Lane.
Then set off towards Woodford.
After Woodford we made our usual way out to the Cheshire lanes through Wilmslow and Mottram St Andrew.
We headed up Wilmslow Old Road.
Sarah spotted this Easter floral display …
While Neil spotted this wooden owl …
A little further on we passed the boundary of Hare Hill Gardens.
Then picked up the Cheshire Cycleway and cycled towards Macclesfield.
In doing so, we skirted the edge of Prestbury.
We entered Macclesfield around he Broken Cross area.
Then immediately turned away and headed towards Gawsworth.
After cycling through Gawsworth village, we continued to follow NCN Route 70.
A little further on from Gawsworth we arrived on the outskirts of Marton.
Just after Congleton we thought we would try the Old Barn again for a coffee break. Last time it was pretty quiet. This time, however, it was really busy.
So we just took a short break on the grass verge.
Then moved on in the direction of Siddington.
Along the way we passed this pony going for a little walk on its own!
From Siddington, we continued on Chelford.
Passing the locals on the way.
The next village was Nether Alderley.
Then Chorley.
We briefly joined Melrose Way, the Alderley Bypass.
Before reaching the outskirts of Wilmslow.
After cycling through the town centre, we headed up Wilmslow Park and on towards Dean Row.
Finally, we passed the Deanwater towards Woodford again.
Then back into Blossoms Lane again.
Todays cycle ride had covered 31 miles. Thankfully, I hadn’t struggled as much as last week, so had appreciated the Cheshire lanes a little more.
