Longford Park Easy
When there is a Stockport Community Cycling Club longer ride, the preceding day there is usually an easier family afternoon ride. Tomorrow I (Andy) am leading the longer ride to Peover Heath and we don’t normally participate in the family ride. However Sarah decided that on this occasion it would be good training for our upcoming marathon to go along to the Longford Park Easy ride.
Thus our Valentines Day day begun with Sarah and I volunteering at Bramhall Parkrun then completing a 6.5 miles training run, and finally heading over to North Reddish Park for the beginning of the Longford Park Easy ride.
The ride then began by picking up the Fallowfield Loopline in Reddish.
We followed this former railway line all the way to Chorlton-Cum-Hardy.
Once we reached Chorlton we weaved our way through the back streets to reach Longford Park.
Here we enjoyed a pot of tea and a tasty cake sat outside at the Caffeine & Co Cafe. Yes, the weather was fine!
We returned back along the Fallowfield Loopline again. The return journey was a little more difficult since there was a gentle uphill gradient and we were cycling into a headwind
By the time we returned to North Reddish Park we had cycled just over 12 miles. With our extra 5 miles each way to the start Sarah and I had cycled 22 miles. All-in-all a very enjoyable afternoons cycling.
This evening Sarah and I are going for a Valentines Day meal. We reckon we have earned it!
