Lochs & Glens South Day 1 – Carlisle to Annan
Monday was our Lochs & Glens South Day 1, the first day of our cycling tour. We got the train to Carlisle. Day 1 saw us cycle from Carlisle to Annan.
Once we had all arrived at Carlisle Station we made our way to Town Hall Square where the ride officially starts.
We cycled out of Carlisle.
We met a guy who was cycling from Lands End to John o’Groats solo. He was on day 6 and was camping most of the way.
We have cycled from Carlisle to Annan a few times but the route we took today was longer than the one we had used on previous occasions.
Unfortunately Des’s bike started to make a clicking noise as he was peddling.
We spotted a bike shop on our way to Gretna Green and called in. They thought that the problem was with the free hub but were unable to do anything as it was late I the day and they had other things booked in.
We continued on to Gretna Green.
Stopping off for refreshments at The Famous Blacksmiths Shop in Gretna Green, which was a huge site with lots of tourists, as well as wedding parties.
Having had a cuppa tea and ice cream, we continued on to Annan.
We passed the Devil’s Porridge Museum.
We had cycled nearly 29 miles by the time we arrived in Annan.
