Knutsford – Around Tatton Park (‘Cos you can’t go through it)
For our weekend cycle ride, we decided to head out to Knutsford. We have been enjoying our cycling and this was a lovely sunny day for cycling.
We began by heading out through Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme.
From there we joined the Airport Relief Road.
And then picked up the Airport Orbital Cycleway, local network route 85.
After following the cycleway for a few miles, we turned off into Mill Lane.
This took us towards Ashley.
After crossing Mobberley Road we joined local network route 70.
Following local route 70 took us towards Rostherne.
Tatton Park is closed at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mind you, when we passed the entrance there were quite a few cyclists, walkers and car drivers that weren’t aware of its closure.
Its closure means that to get to Knutsford you have to cycle around the edge of the park.
Eventually, we reached Knutsford.
A little hop through Wall Wood brought us to Hillside Road.
And after turning down Drury Lane …
Then cycling through Knutsford Park …
We came out onto Mobberley Road.
After turning into Smith Lane, we then turned into Slade Lane. It provided a nice little cut through before rejoining local network route 70 on Hobcroft Lane.
From there we continued to weave our way through the Mobberley back lanes.
Eventually, we reached Morley Green on the edge of Wilmslow.
We cycled along Hawthorn Lane to the town centre.
Then Station Road.
Before cutting through Wilmslow Park and on to Adlington Road.
After picking up Woodford Road we returned to the boundaries of Stockport.
Before finally returning home following our now familiar route up Church Lane and into Blossoms Lane.
Then through the back lanes of Bramhall.
This had been another fabulous cycle ride. It had been great to see lots of other walkers and cyclists out too; young, old, families. Perhaps the only downside is there was a noticeable increase in cars on the more major roads today. However, let’s hope this doesn’t deter those who are finding a new found love for cycling from keeping on cycling.
