High Legh 2022
Our High Legh 2022 cycle ride began with Stockport Community Cycling Club riders meeting at Gatley station, before setting off through the streets of Gatley.
It was a cool Autumn morning. Today I was leading this ride.
Upon joining St Anne’s Road North and heading towards Heald Green, we picked up NCN Route 558.
Then, when joining Styal Road we began following Local Route 85, the Airport Orbital Cycleway.
This took us around the perimeter of Manchester Airport.
Including through the tunnels under the runways.
Next, we turned into Mill Lane which dropped down to the River Bollin followed by a tough little climb up Castle Hill.
After which, we continued to follow Castle Mill Lane towards Ashley.
At Ashley we joined a section of local route 70, the Cheshire Cycleway.
This took us through Rostherne.
And Bucklow Hill.
Eventually, we arrived at High Legh. Here we stopped for lunch at High Legh Garden Centre.
Following an enjoyable lunch, we set off back home again. Beginning with crossing Warrington Road.
Then on towards Little Bollington.
Back over the River Bollin.
Around the edge of Dunham Massey. Followed by the long drag up Charcoal Road. Then after crossing A56 we cycled through Bowdon.
Next we navigated our way around the edge of Altrincham and through Hale.
This brought us to Wythenshawe. Here we took the path alongside Hollyhedge Road.
Finally, we returned through Gatley.
This had been an enjoyable Autumnal cycle ride covering almost 30 miles. As always, we all enjoyed being out on our bicycles and out along the country lanes.
