Henbury
Our weekend cycle ride took us to Henbury this time out. As we continue to navigate our way through this coronavirus pandemic, these cycle rides have provided us with welcome opportunities to relax and get away from it all.
We started by making our way through Cheadle Hulme and on to the airport relief road.
One thing we have noticed on our last couple of cycle rides is the increase in traffic in the urban areas. This weekend, the volume of traffic on the roads was almost like any normal weekend, the old normal that is. It seems the quiet roads we have been enjoying are coming to an end. Oh well, it was great while it lasted.
After leaving the airport relief road we made our way through Handforth and Wilmslow.
On the other side of Wilmslow, we picked up the Alderley Bypass and followed this for a mile or so.
We left the bypass at Nether Alderley.
A little further on, we headed up the cobbled Bradford Lane.
We had cycled this section, in the opposite direction, on our Nether Alderley ride a few weeks ago.
About halfway up Hocker Lane, we met Tracey, out on a ride of her own. Indeed, she was exploring this section after we had included it in our Nether Alderley blog post. We stopped and had an enjoyable little catch-up.
We didn’t follow Hocker Lane all the way today, however. Instead, we turned off towards Over Alderley.
We joined Birtles Lane.
We followed Birtles Lane for the next few miles.
Then we picked up a section of the Cheshire Cycleway, the local cycle network route 70, and turned towards Henbury.
After crossing Chelford Road we climbed up Pepper Street.
Next, we headed up Wrigley Lane.
Sarah was struggling now. She had been a little unwell over the previous few days.
This took us towards Mottram St Andrew.
From Mottram St Andrew, we headed down Wilmslow Old Road and then into Mill Lane.
And back towards Wilmslow.
Finally, we returned to Stockport following our usual route.
By the time got back, Sarah was pooped!
Today, we had cycled 28 miles. It had been yet another fabulous cycle ride around the Cheshire lanes.
