Colourful Lyme Park

Colourful Lyme Park

We had originally planned to go cycling with Stockport Community Cycling Club, unfortunately we had both been suffering from one of those winter bugs currently doing the rounds. I had largely recovered (down to just a few coughs and sniffles) but Sarah was still struggling.

Not being able to go cycling over a weekend is frustrating for us, so we decided that the least we could do was get out for a short afternoon walk and so made our way over to Lyme Park.

We began by following the Gritstone Trail.

When we reached Knightslow Wood we turned right and headed for Paddock Cottage.

From here we turned back towards Lyme Hall.

And to finish the afternoon off we headed to the cafe in the old Lyme Hall stables for the famed National Trust tea and cake.

This was only a short walk, nonetheless it was far enough. And the Autumn colours helped to make this a fantastically colourful afternoon out, and some of the views looking out over Cheshire were fabulous.
