Chadkirk 2016
Today saw the SCCC ride to Chadkirk. As the normal ride was a similar route to another ride that we had done recently, Neil (the ride leader for the day) took us on a nice new ride. We met at Torkington Park. It was a reasonable turn out consider that it was damp again! We had a slightly delayed start as we waited for John to turn up – he was the back leader today.
The route took us out along the back roads through Hazel Grove and on to Offerton
We then went down the Bongs before joining Dooley Lane
We turned off soon afterwards and went past the Stockport Hydro scheme
We then continued along the River Goyt, which was rather muddy in places.
Passing Bredbury Hall
We then headed up to join the TPT (Trans Pennine Trail)
Passing through Reddish Value Country Park
We cycled from Brinnington and on through Bredbury Park Business Park, then on through Woodley to Romiley
Just before we arrived at Romiley, Lynn got a flat tyre (therewas a thorn in it apparently). Some of us continued on to the cafe in the hope that we didn’t overwhelm them. Lunch was in Romiley at No 29 Coffee House and Deli. We had some great food there and the staff were very friendly and helpful!
After lunch we went past Chadkirk Chapel and then over the newish brridge and then up the hill past Marple Hall School
The final stage of the route, took us along the Middlewood Way from Rose Hill Station
The ride finished where we started, at Torkington Park, having cycled 16.5 miles. It was a great ride, a great cafe, although it was a little damp in places
