St George’s Christmas Tree Festival 2016 – Including an SCCC Tree

St George’s Christmas Tree Festival 2016 – Including an SCCC Tree

The cancelled Cotebrook ride Sarah and I arrived at Winsford Marina where we were due to lead a Stockport Community Cycling Club ride to Cotebrook. Sadly, due to frosty conditions (it was -3 degrees at the time) we decided for safety reasons it wouldn’t be wise to continue. It is always difficult cancelling rides, and the decision for this one in particular could have gone either way. A Quick Trip to York

A Quick Trip to York

After a 10 mile run on Saturday morning, we took a quick trip to York. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Derby near to…

We like to break our journeys with visits to various National Trust properties and on this occasion we chose Charlecote Park near to Stratford-upon-Avon. This includes a twelfth century house with family portraits, Victorian…

Sizergh Castle – Beautiful medieval house, rich gardens and estate

Sizergh Castle – Beautiful medieval house, rich gardens and estate

It had been a fabulous birthday. However, all too soon it was coming to an end. At least however, we could prolong it a little longer with a visit to Sizergh Castle on the way back. Pottering around a National Trust property was ideal for Sarah, since she was struggling with blisters following our Wray Castle visit and in particular the Cat Bells walk on the previous days. So, after one last stroll around Keswick we set off for Kendal….
