Lytes Cary Manor – A Timeless Little World to Reflect and Enjoy

Lytes Cary Manor – A Timeless Little World to Reflect and Enjoy

Having cycled to Wincanton yesterday, for our final day in Somerset I decided upon something more leisurely, a visit to a National Trust property – and Lytes Cary Manor was just the job. It was a lovely sunny summer morning when I arrived. National Trust describes the property as an ‘Intimate manor house with Arts and Crafts-style garden’. The manor was built by the Lytes family. Nonetheless, we decided to keep this day free for, with my Open University days reaching the final stages, this might prove to be one of the few opportunities we have in the next few months to get out. So, it was a cool…

Visit to Hurst Castle

Visit to Hurst Castle

During our trip to Bournemouth, on the Tuesday after Christmas, we went for a visit to Hurst Castle. It is an English Heritage site but is locally managed by Hurst Castle Ferries. We parked near Milford-on-Sea and walked over Cut Bridge and then walked along the Hurst Spit towards Hurst Castle. It was a bright sunny day but with it being winter, the sun was low in the sky. Hurst Castle was originally built by Henry VIII as one of…
