Coast and Castles South Day 3 – Alnwick to Lindisfarne
Coast and Castles South Day 3. Today, was another great day weather wise! Before leaving Alnwick, we went to look at the castle.
We then headed out of town and back to the coast. We had decided to follow the alternative route which was partially off road. Some of the scenery was just stunning!
Our next stop was at Dunstanburgh Castle.
Lunch was at Seahouses at a great little cafe there.
We then continued along past Bamburgh Castle.
We stopped off at Beal and checked in at the farmhouse we were staying the night at. The journey was about 44 miles.

Having dropped off our panniers, we cycled over tbe Causeway to Lindisfarne (also known as Holy Island).
Our first port of call was for a well needed cuppa.
We then looked around the Lindisfarne Priory.
Onwards then to look at the Lindisfarne Castle.
Behind the castle was a lovely walled garden.
The cycle ride back over the Causeway was much easier than going as the wind was behind us. We went straight to the pub (The Lindisfarne Inn) and had a really lovely meal. Someone then had the bright idea of cycling back to see the Causeway now that the tide was in … so we did!
By the time we finally got back to the farmhouse we had cycled another 16 miles and had a very full day, but a very enjoyable one!
