Beverley – SCCC Hull Club Weekend
The second day of the Stockport Community Cycling Club Hull weekend gave members the choice of two rides. This shorter cycle ride to Beverley was lead by Sarah. And I am writing this post even though I wasn’t on the ride!
The ride began by heading out through Cottingham.
It was then a steady climb for the next few miles as the cyclists made their way towards Ripplingham.
The route then turned towards Rowley and Little Weighton.
After a steady climb for a few miles, the top of the hill was reached.
Time, therefore, for a cuppa at Croft Park Cafe before the final few ‘uppy’ bits.
A little further along and you could almost have mistaken the route for one on the Tour De France.
The route then passed through Walkington.
Before reaching the edge of Beverley. This took them through Beverley Common.
The lunch stop was at Cafe Velo.
The cycling-themed cafe had lots of interesting items on display to look at.
There was even time for everyone to pop around the corner and take a peek at Beverley’s market square.
Back on the road, the route headed towards Tickton.
It crossed over the River Hull.
It then followed the A1035 for a while.
Before turning on to Meaux Lane and heading back to Hull.
Then the riders weaved their way through the edge of Hull, crossing the River Hull again via the Hull Bridge.
By the time they returned to Hull University they had cycled 30 miles. For some, it had been one of the longest rides they had completed. Everyone, however, had thought it was great!
