Bay Cycle Way Itinerary
This Bay Cycle Way itinerary outlines the cycle route myself, Sarah, Andy S and Mike will be following in autumn 2020. We will be cycling from Barrow-in-Furness to Glasson Dock, all the while hugging Morecambe Bay.
Sustrans describes the Bay Cycle Way route as ‘a perfect introduction to long-distance cycling. Morecambe Bay is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the UK. As you cycle along the route you’ll be rewarded with incredible views, world-class historic sites and artefacts, traditional food and rare wildlife.’
It has also been referred at as a ‘slow tourism’ route. This isn’t a route with long tough climbs, or exhilarating descents, or even off-road twisting paths. No, that’s simply not what the Bay Cycle Way is about. It is, though, a tour with relaxing, stunning, and slowly shifting sea views, with locally produced food, and with rare birds and animals to spot. Yes, it promises to be a great little cycle tour!
