Away to Grantham

Away to Grantham

Having been so cold for the last few weeks, we were hoping that our next weekend away would be a bit warmer. The forecast was in our favour and turned out to be correct for a change! We set off to Grantham for our next weekend away. Why Grantham you may ask (others certainly have asked us), well why not? We had managed to book a room at the Ramada at a cheap price and we hadn’t been before!

just north of Grantham is a National Trust property called Belton House.  On our way down,  we stopped off there to have a look around.

Our first part of the estate to be visited was the restaurant for a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake – very good it was too.

We decided to go round the house next.

There were some very impressive bed canopies there.

As well as many other interesting things to see.

We then headed out into the sunshine and looked around the grounds.

Inside the Orangery we managed to find some oranges!

Just behind the Orangery there was a little garden with some benches around the edge.  We just had to sit for a while and enjoy the lovely warm sunshine.  Especially as it has been such a rare commodity recently.

Next to this was the local parish Church (but is not maintained by National Trust) but it was well worth a visit.

After visiting the Church we continued our wander around the estate and got to see lots of spring flowers.

After a lovely sunny afternoon at Belton House,  we drove on the Ramada at Graham.

That evening we walked into the town centre and had a look around.
