Anderton Boat Lift 2016
Stockport Community Cycling Club members have not met with much good fortune on recent rides. So the fact that this Sunday promised better weather for the Anderton Boat Lift 2016 ride was met with considerable enthusiasm. Indeed over twenty riders met at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.
Leaving Wilmslow we set off for Lindow End.
And then Ollerton.
Before making our way through the Cheshire lanes via the Peovers.
We turned off at Swan Green.
At Lach Dennis we then turned towards Northwich.
Northwich proved rather busy as we navigated our large group of cyclists through the town.
Thankfully we were soon back on to the quiet lanes and through Neumann’s Flashes.
Soon we were arriving at Anderton Boat Lift cafe. It’s a busy little place, but the food is worth it. Sarah and I chose jacket potatoes and they were some of the best we have tasted. The prices were reasonable too.
Back on the road we began our return to Wilmslow, initially by cycling through Comberbach and Budworth.
Eventually we climbed Tabley Hill on the edge of Knutsford.
We took a short break in Knutsford Park.
The handsome one is on the left …
And Graham’s alternative ego …adventure cyclist climbing the hill out of the park.
From Knutsford we next made our way to Mobberley.
We turned on to Davenport Lane.
Eventually we arrived back in Wilmslow.
While the day had started chilly, the temperatures quickly picked up and this proved to be a fantastic spring day for cycling. We had enjoyed 35 miles of cycling along Cheshire Lanes. For Sarah and I, since we cycled to the start and back again we eventually completed over 50.
