Abney Park Afternoon Ride
Saturday was the SCCC Abney Park Afternoon Ride. We river met on the bridge near the Pyramid. We set off along the the side of the river.
We then turned off and briefly followed the motorway for a short stretch.
The turning off and headingfor Craig Road.
We got back on the road near the Power League.
We then headed through Heaton Mersey Common.
Leaving the common, we made our way back to the River Mersey
There was a heron looking down into the river.
We followed the river down to the road before making our way into Abney Park.
The plan was to stop for coffee at Abney Cafe within Abney Park. Howeveer when we got there it was shut!
We continued on, aiming to stop for a coffee at Cheadle Baths instead.
As we got to Cheadle Baths, they were putting a sign on the coffee machine to say that it was out of order! So we were now looking for plan C. We then walked over the the Village Hotel and the Starbucks inside. We got some nice coffee and cake and some comfy seats!
After the coffee stop, we made a way through Cheadle Hulme towards Edgeley.
We made our way back to the River Mersey, crossing over back to NCN62 and followed the river back to where we had started.
We had cycled 10 miles. You can see our route below:
