A Tale of a Broken Foot and a Cycle Ride to Middlewich
This has not been the best of weekends for Sarah and I, or to be more exact, Sarah. Sarah and I were due to lead today’s Stockport Community Cycling Club ride to Middlewich, tomorrow and Wednesday Sarah was due to lead the club ride around Poynton Lanes, and of course it is now under three weeks before we set off on our big JOGLE cycling trip …
Sadly this week Sarah broke her foot whilst on a work trip to Ireland. Oh no! Mystifyingly she has no idea how it was broken. It does however put her JOGLE participation in grave doubt (though thankfully she would still come along and be part of the team as a passenger should cycling it be ruled out – though that’s not really the same is it? 🙁 ).
In Sarah’s absence Andy Shaw took over as back leader for today’s ride starting from Bramhall library.
It was a bit of a wet start, but that didn’t deter eleven of us.
We began by heading out to Wilmslow.
And then up Wilmslow Old Road and through Mottram St Andrew.
From here we made our way through Henbury towards Gawsworth.
Next we turned and cycled through Marton.
And on to Somerford Booths.
Crossing the A54 we made our way through Brereton.
Lunch was taken at the Big Lock pub on the Middlewich Canal. What initially seemed a tad pricey lunch stop actually proved an excellent lunch. Plenty of vegetarian choices, tasty food, excellent service and they had reserved a table for us. We will happily visit this pub again.
After lunch we made our way back through Byley and Allostock.
And through Toft back towards Wilmslow again.
By the time we arrived back in Bramhall we had cycled nearly 49 miles.

And Sarah? I am sure you will be with me in wishing her a speedy recovery. Get well soon Sarah! 🙂
