A Cheshire Sunday Cycle Ride out to Jodrell Bank
This Cheshire Sunday cycle ride was our second socially distanced small group cycle ride. This weeks route was organised by Neil.
We have been having some interchangeable weather recently. We weren’t sure what today would bring. We met at the junction of Hall Moss Lane and Blossoms Lane. At least the weather started out ok.
Initially, we followed one of our usual routes out into Cheshire. This took us along Lees Lane.
And then into Mill Lane.
Next, we turned up Wilmslow Old Road.
Continuing up Oak Road.
A little further on we cycled around the perimeter of Hare Hill Gardens.
At Birtles, we briefly, we picked up NCN local route 70, the Cheshire Cycleway.
However, as quickly as we joined it, we darted off in a different direction down Birtles Lane.
After cropping down and crossing over the A537 we climbed up out the other side into Birtles Lane South.
Next, we turned into Fanshawe Lane.
This took us down to Redesmere Lake. It was really busy!
Next, we made our way through Siddington on our way towards Lower Withington.
This then brought us to the edge of Jodrell Bank Observatory.
We then weaved our way around the lanes around the edge of Jodrell Bank.
This took us up Bate Mill Lane.
We then made our way back through the Peovers.
And then on through Marthall.
And Great Warford.
And Chorley.
Eventually, we arrived in Alderley Edge.
From Alderley Edge we cycled on towards Wilmslow.
There was one last tough little climb, this one up the hill after Adlington Road crosses the River Bollin.
Finally, we cycled down (and then up) Woodford Road.
Before returning into Blossoms Lane.
Our Cheshire Sunday cycle ride route had covered nearly 29 miles. Once again, it had been another really enjoyable few hours cycling with a couple of our friends. And the weather remained fine!
